All Things January, February, and March

Long time no blog. What can I say, I’ve been holed up waiting for spring. That said, I finally busted out my new shoes this week. I’ve been holding them out for a few months until it seemed a little less muddy, and a little less rainy. It is officially spring, and officially time for this bear to come out of hibernation. So what have I been up to the past few months… not much. Just chilling, and living life. Here’s a glimpse.

T and I watched a few of my sweet nephews for a weekend. We promptly sugared them up with chocolate coins the size of their heads and then practiced our handstands.

T is officially cooler than Auntie K now. He likes racetracks almost as much as the kiddos do.

We joined a wine of the month club. Bright Cellars. Supposedly, you write up notes and rate the wine each month, and then they send you options the next month that they think will better suite your tastes. We’ve only had two of the bottles so far, one we liked, one we didn’t, so i’m curious to see if they really hone in on our tastes with each passing month.Bright CellarsBright Cellars

Us, being our typical selves.
T and KI’ve been making some good strides in my aerial classes lately. I finally can do a legit pull up. Not a big deal for some, but a huge advance for me. I need to get someone to film it for me. It’s not pretty, but I want proof. I also got my splits in one direction finally! Slowly but surely.

Lately Iโ€™ve beenโ€ฆ.

Listening to– Zumba music, zumba music, and more zumba music.

Watching– I just started watching Once Upon a Time. A little goofy, but i’m a sucker for cheesy fantasy, and I really like what they did with a couple of the characters.

ReadingThe Good Earth. I’m re-reading this from high school. It’s so good! I’m also in the middle of the Anne of Green Gables series. I never read these as a child, and feel like I missed out. So why not read them now.

Eating– Bananas frozen with yogurt/peanut butter/honey on top.

Enjoying– My training at Emerald City Trapeze. I love it there, and wish I could train 7 days a week. Alas, my budget does not allow. I’ll take what I can get though.

Looking forward to– I just booked a long weekend to San Francisco to hang out with two very dear friends. I need a vacation. Short as it may be, I can’t wait for it at the end of May!

Until next time ๐Ÿ™‚

New Year

2015 is here. A new day, a fresh start, a breath of fresh air. I approach this year with both joy and sadness. Joy for new beginnings, sadness as it is a year in which my dad exists only in spirit, my heart, and my memories. Knowing him though, he would want me to find the joy, be happy, and go on as many adventures as possible, so that is the plan. Find the joy, find peace, and dance like a crazy person (already got that one down).

That said, their were some genuinely good moments during the holiday season this year, and I am thrilled that small moments of happiness are creeping back into life.

Forgive the sheer volume of photos of my newest nephew. I just can’t help myself.

Ooooh Sparkles!

My mom adopted a sweet labradoodle from the humane society. She wanted to have a buddy around the house. Sweet Lucy was not what she expected to get. Not the right breed, the right size, with too long of fur. But dearie me, the more time I spend around this sweet dog, the convinced I become that she was meant to be my mom’s dear friend. She is quickly on her way to becoming the worlds most spoiled/loved dog.

Seriously, how cute is this face?labradoodle

Here is to you 2015! I expect the back to the future hover board to be perfected by the end of the year. ๐Ÿ™‚

The Joy of Nephews and Nieces

I am the proud Auntie of 4 nephews, 1 niece, and one little who is still cookin in the oven. I am known to these wee ones as Auntie K, Crazy Auntie K, Tia Kendra, and I’m working on getting youngest to call me Tia Loca. Because there is a bit of an age gap between myself and my older sisters (and because i’m not looking to cook up any kiddos of my own anytime soon), sometimes I get a little sad that any future spawn I may procreate won’t have any cousins close in age…..

Then I rejoice that I have had years, and likely more years in the future, of simply being Auntie. I get to throw all of my heart at these wonderful beings without the distraction of my own. I’m the one encouraging them to lick giant bowls of applesauce clean, roll in the dirt, race me down the street on their scooter, and I am often seen sitting across the table making goofy faces at them during supper.

I love watching these littles become their own people, and I am proud that they call me Auntie.

A few weekends ago, was the rare occasion when all the cousins gathered at my parents house, or as they are affectionately called Grammy and Bumpa. I managed to escape the city for a few days of chaos, and loved every minute of it.

Kind 11 year old E, is growing into a wonderful young man. Smart, athletic, respectful, and wonderful with all the young cousins, I cannot wait to see where life takes him!

IMG_2434Chaotic A! I have a feeling that this kiddo is an artist at heart. His laugh is infectious, he has energy for days, and his heart is as big as they come.

Sweet little E. The only niece amongst all boys, and she’s got us all wrapped around her little finger.

Dearest O. Smart, kind, and insightful, this kid continually amazes me with his understanding of things like symmetry and asymmetry. I’m pretty sure this kid has a better vocabulary than I do. A wonderful little hugger, this kid is as sweet as they come, and I have found the greatest joy in making him laugh since he was tiny.

Oh little F.T. I wasn’t sure you liked me at first, but now even when your being a little sass, you melt my heart with a simple “I wuv you Auntie K”. A tester of limits, I sense a heart of adventurer in him.

Here’s to you sweet kiddos! I love being your auntie.

Christmas is over and i’ve been relaxing/recovering the past few days in preparation for the New Year! December went by in a flurry of party’s, gift exchanges, work dinners, and family time. It has truly been a joyous month, but i’m definitely ready for a bit of a slow down starting on the first. As I have barely blogged this month (whoops), I thought I gather up a few of my favorite photos from the month to share with you!

Had coffee with these two Gems! This is the face little F.T. makes when you ask hime to smile. Cheese!

Holiday barn potluck, complete with petting zoo, rope swing, and horseback rides.

Lil Sebastian any one? J.K.

Mini pony! She kept trying to eat my jacket. I giggled a lot.

And no December is complete without a bonfire!

Brown paper packages tied up with string! Please tell me you sang that.

Apple pie making setup! If you have never used an apple corer/peeler, find one. So simple a tool, but it has made peeling apples a relatively relaxing experience, as I hate peeling them with a traditional peeler.

Unbaked, but one of the prettiest pies I’ve ever made. Sadly, I forgot to get an after shot ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

My sister and her family surprised us on Christmas eve by showing up at our parents house. We don’t often get to see them on Christmas, and we were more than a little excited. Their outfits also put my parents and I to shame ๐Ÿ˜ฆ , as I spent most of the week in leggings and tee’s.

Sweet little E clearly isn’t having any of their shenanigans.

Strike a pose sister dear!

Ninja turtle O! I’m so glad this cartoon has made a comeback.

Love my little nephews!

Dinner’s served!

We are totally normal….

The parents…. What is my father looking at?

Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

I Am Thankful

I LOVE Thanksgiving! Who doesn’t love a holiday based on spending time with loved ones and eating really delicious food? I got to spend a whole long weekend at home, eating good food, baking, black friday shopping, and spending time with friends. Here are a few of my favorite things from this past weekend.

My star studded apple pie. Boy was it yummy!

This is what happens when I request to take a picture while my dad is carving the turkey, and my sister is making gravy.

Which quickly erupts into giggles!

Isn’t Leavenworth lovely with all it’s Christmas lights? I still remember the first time I saw Leavenworth at Christmas, it was magical. The only thing that was missing this weekend was a fresh blanket of snow.

photo 4

My wee little Charlie Brown Christmas tree. I love it. It’s three feet of Christmas excellence!

I hope your holiday season is starting well!!

Alas, the end of summer has been a busy one. Excellent, but busy. I have returned from what was a very summery vacation in California to a rainy Seattle. I have packed away my summer sandals and shorts, and spent the weekend hibernating in my tiny apartment, only venturing into the rain for groceries and coffee. As I settle into my favorite season, I thought I’d do one or two more posts on what i’ve been up to the last month, starting with my family camping trip about a month ago.

Now I am no camper, unlike the rest of my family, and had to borrow camping gear from everyone. It worked out pleasantly though, and I enjoyed hanging out with everyone, despite that fact that it required sleeping on the ground. My sister assured me that camping as an adult would be much more enjoyable, as now I could drink wine. While I don’t think I will be regularly seeking out opportunities to camp, with my plastic mug of wine in hand ;), I did have a super fun time.

Hidden Lake. An excellently short hike for little kiddo legs.

IMG_1694 IMG_1687

Mum and I clearly had a lovely time, and I’m sure that she will love that I put this particular picture on the blog. What can I say though, I love a good funny face photo!

Someone left this little gem behind. Sad that they left it, but I felt like it only added to the relaxed atmosphere of the lake.

Sweet little E is still getting used to me. Clearly I don’t see her often enough and must remedy that. I think she was also worried I was going to steal her slice of pizza out of her hands.

Can you tell we are sisters?

All lovely weirdos in our own unique ways!

We managed to get one photo of the whole crew! One goofy, but lovable bunch!

Up next…. How much I love Disneyland! Otherwise known as what I did with a few days in California!
