Boat Shoes On a Boat

I did it! I got on a sailboat and I didn’t get Seasick!

Before I get to the sailing photos though, what does one wear on a sail? It was a gorgeous day in Seattle, but I knew it was going to get breezy on the boat, so I opted for some light layers.DSCN0594

I swapped the wedges out for boat shoes for the actual sailing, and slipped back into the wedges for dinner later.

My boat shoes have officially fulfilled their destiny, being on a boat.

My Joel Mchale look alike bf.

I’d say I officially have a legit mohawk, wouldn’t you?

Oh Seattle, you do make me swoon.

Seattle is truly meant to be seen from the water. It was BEAUTIFUL! I’m ready for my next sailing adventure. Perhaps a bit longer than two hours.

New Do

Three hours in a salon chair… and I LOVE my hair!

Look, I’m so excited to have a head full of bleach.IMG_2421

It ended up being a silvery blonde with hints of pink and blue, and totally different than anything I’ve ever done to my hair before. I went in with four very different colors ideas, but after some assurance from my stylist at Vain (love that salon soooo much), we decided that I might as well try this while my hair is short.

I attempt to take nice pictures, and then that get’s boring and this happens.

Thoughts? I love it, though I know doing this to my hair on a regular basis will destroy it, and the grow out is going to be horrifying. But I don’t care, it’s too fun! Happy Monday!!

This is How I Roll

Dear K had a birthday this month. Much to my joy, she flew back into town to celebrate. What better way to celebrate that dressing in 70’s attire and roller skating!!! It was like a trip back to my childhood, the sites the smell (all skating rinks smell the same), and I was happy to see the rink busy with families out for some saturday night fun.

We strapped on skates and got ready to roll.

Classy K and I.

Believe it or not, these thrifted pants have been a staple in my wardrobe for years.

L and I are a bit less classy, a bit more chaotic.

A bit blurry, but we could only make it around the rink once like this before our clumsiness got the best of us. I think i’ll leave the skating to the professional roller derby gals.

Post skating we headed out for some cocktails and confetti. What birthday is complete without some confetti 😉

I have been pulling glitter out of my hair for the past two days….

But K had a good time, so it was all worth it.

What did you get up to this weekend?

A Walk in the Park

I walked in the park this past weekend. The Ballard Locks are about a mile away from my apartment and I am horrified to say…. I’ve never been. I tossed on my new little herringbone jacket (a sample I snagged from work), and coffee in hand, T and I set out.

The garden was a little bleak in early February, but I can’t wait to come back in the spring when there are flowers in those beds, and vines climbing the trellises.

Our walk quickly turned into a mini photo shoot, which quickly turned into jazz hands and a whole lot of laughter.

My favorite little purple wedges.

I love that I went to the locks, and didn’t take any pictures of water or boats. Guess I’ll have to go back and take more 🙂

Lately I’ve been….

Listening to– Kings of Leon. They finally won me over

Watching– The Winter Olympics! Speed Skating in particular.

Eating– Theo Gingerbread Chocolate. Goodness that stuff is amazing!!

Enjoying– Our snow day in Seattle! Now Seattle can’t really handle the snow, but there is just something so peaceful about that white fluff.

Looking forward to– An arial silks class next weekend with one of my dearest childhood friends! I love the circus, and all circus skills!

Soft Blue Beret

This winter, I have been in dire need of a new cozy hat. Not wanting to buy one in store (all the ones I liked were way to expensive), I started scouring the internet for patterns that looked appealing. I came across this little beauty, and decided to give it a whirl.

It turned out pretty well with just a few minor adjustments. You never know with internet finds, as I have had some real doozy’s of end results on projects. This one however wasn’t a catastrophe, so I thought I’d share it with you!

I used the Lion Brand Alpine Wool yarn, and though a little scratchy, the color and ease of use make up for it.

Gauge: 8dc*10rows = 10*10cm
I used 8.00 mm hook

And on me, all ready to brave the not so cold Seattle.DSCN0092

In retrospect, I think I would make it a little bigger. I have thick thick hair and a large head, and the hat didn’t quite have the slouchy affect I wanted in the back. Alas, I still like it, and I’ll still wear it.

Can you tell I like black?

I took my hat out for a jaunt around Point Defiance Zoo, for the last night of Zoo Lights. It’s a fun little walk around, and perfect for a chilly winter night with a cup of coco in hand.

I hope your all staying warm in this chilly start to the new year!

FALLing for Spring

I’m not really ready for spring, i’m still just at the beginning of my fall/winter obsession and it’s not even time to get crazy about Christmas yet ;). Spring fashion weeks for next year did just finish up though, and that means that I just spent the last few days obsessively pouring over the show slideshows, and getting really excited for trends to come. That said, i’d thought i share a few of my favorites with you.

There were a lot this season, so I’ve pared it down to just six 😉

The Row. Is anyone else as thrilled as me that Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen gave up acting to start amazing fashion collections? Beautiful neutrals, sophisticated lines.

Custo Barcelona. Can’t say I would ever wear a swimsuit with sleeves, but those colors sure are beautiful.

10 Crosby Derek Lamb. Perfect shapes and styling.

Burberry Prorsum…. Christopher Bailey, enough said.

Burberry Prorsum again. I am thrilled that pastels are making such a beautiful  comeback.

Celine. I regularly drool my way through looking at this show, and this season was no exception.

Ok, enough about spring, now to get back to my fall crocheting project.

Life Lately

Took my dear friend Y to Leavenworth. The day was filled with brews…..

…and some Pretty Pretty Princess! It was my favorite childhood game, (And by childhood, I mean I got it for Christmas when I was 18 :))

T and I went Antiquing! I made a new friend and I named him Morris.

I’m working on this little gem, just the hem left to complete. I don’t love the print, but i’m using it as a tester for the pattern. I’m thinking of making it in a lovely wool for winter.

I went HIKING, and actually enjoyed it. Those that know me, know that this is not something I usually choose to do.

We hiked up Pilchuck to the lookout, it was BEAUTIFUL, and quite a nice, but steep hike. I returned mostly in tact, just with a few mosquito bites to irritate me all week.

Reading– Devil in the White City, by Erik Larson. Really awesome if you like sensationalized historically based stories. I’m hooked.

Listening To– Vivaldi.

Watching– The Office re-runs.

Eating– Trail mix, Trail mix, and more Trail Mix.

Enjoying– Going to Barre class on thursdays! I’ve been meaning to try one of these classes for awhile now and it’s awesome!

Looking Forward To– Camping with my family this weekend! Not so much the camping aspect, but lots o family time. I’m sure it will be a hoot!

OOTD Fourth of July Style

Thought I would do a quick but belated outfit post in honor of the 4th of July! Now I haven’t always been big on dressing up in red white and blue on the 4th, but ever since my college roomate’s birthday was on the 4th, i’ve felt the need to celebrate not only America’s birthday, but my dear friends birthday as well by dressing up in Red White and Blue!
